Athens Olympics - general - Olympics: Games return to their ancient birthplace

Athens Olympics - general - Olympics: Games return to their ancient birthplace

The Olympics will start tomorow @ 7pm NZ time. Its a bit of nostalgia as I remembered it was also during the Olympics when I first arrived here in New Zealand. I watched the opening ceremony in a backpacker's lodge with the other nationalities cheering for their own when they say their own flag.

That marks my 4th year here in my adopted country which has been very very good for me and my family. There has been some challenges here in there but overall it has been good ride.

Un[f@#@%ng]believable

Tonight, minutes from leaving the office I heard my manager screaming obscenities that will put the Osbournes, the whole family, into shame. I was wondering, OMG what just happened ? Did the market just crash or what ? Turns out he just lost his work. Not his job but the report he’s working on for the last two hours. Well, so it was true, something crashed and it was Clarity ( our reporting software) He he he…two hours mate, imagine that. I could’ve consumed enough beers to make my driving pose a serous threat to the citizens of this country.

He asked me if there’s anyway he can retrieve that file somewhere in the abyss of windows. I wanted to be nice and tell him yes, speak some technical gibberish but in the end the “speak the truth” overwhelmed my “mock him” part of my brain. He gave up and left for home saying he should’ve just left earlier. I said to myself: “YUP, you should have been enjoying your beer now”. As for me I’m going to the fridge and grab my Heineken. I’m not going to deny myself that luxury over this program I’m working on since yesterday. Murphy’s law gives me creep.
